Hey! You are posting again! (Not that i can really point an accusing finger – when is the last time that our website was updated? I am afraid to check.)

How are you Mahesh? What are you up to? Xmas? New Years fun? How is the family? Hobbies? Romance? Education? I hope all is doing well for you.

We are fine – aside from post-holiday catharsis/blues. Xmas was great; New Years was blissfully uneventful (i fell asleep at 830, then again at 145). Back to work on Tuesday!

Gotta help tish get out of the house with Ben now, so signing off. One request/complaint, if you don’t mind (and, again, bear in mind that i mentioned above how hypocritical i am – but i realize it! The request: i really miss your Random Jottings that were of a more personal nature. What are you up to? Pictures from Africa. Annoying adventures with bureaucracies. The computer stuff doesn’t really tell me what Mahesh is up to.

Hmm. I guess now i have to put my money where my mouth is and start updating our blog too! Someone might actually be missing our posts too.

Hope all is great for you, Mahesh. It’s the end of the year, so i have been nostalgic for many things including our rambling office conversations, and cooking with Meg at my apartment.

Hi — Is there any way at all to have a complaint handled by Dell? They have failed to repair my laptop which is still under warranty. Its been away for a week and has come back worse than before. No one to speak with, no names given, no contact via a web site. The subcontinent help number is just a timewasting process dealing with people who just read from the instructions (not very well). I would like the world to know that Dell sucks — its a failing business in the hands of fools. MT

I’m having my issues with Dell too. I canceled an order with them by phone, they told me that everything was OK, and 4-5 days later (today), I’m finding that the items in my mailbox. I discovered that I had been charged even after I had canceled the order… Let’s see how it works out.

I guess Dell is to be avoided for customer service…

yea, normal blogging isn’t really possible from this thing. but still when you want to write longer than 140 characters and you aren’t with your laptop, it is pretty cool – well, as long as you are in a wifi hotspot. i quite like tweeting from my nokia e71 though as i don’t need to have wifi coverage, and i can take pictures and twitpic as well. if we are to believe in rumours then the next gen of ipods will come with in-built cam (and possibly a mic) which means the only difference between iphone and pods will be that iphone will have gsm/3g connectivity via the sim in addition to wifi and bluetooth, which both devices will have!

You’ll get used to tapping fingers and speed will improve in a week or two. I think It’s a perfect device to tweet and update facebook but blogging from this small device and touch screen makes me curl

i got an app for my iPhone tht was made by WordPress and i like everything about it exept the fact that i cant find out how to sync my drafts between the app and the web…

Hello Darren and the Witts,

All well(ish) here too – nothing interesting to report really. Been too lazy to update the sites, went back home for a few weeks of “holidays”, and now back trying to finish the phd (feels such a bad idea sometimes!) – no time to get married, have kids – although joining a nunnery crosses mind sometimes (haha, just kidding )

Sorry to hear about the sickness in the family, but I’m sure spring will bring freshness and drive those microbes away. And flexible contract by choice sounds like a great thing to have. I’m wondering too if I should migrate to parent/children-friendly place like that when I want to have some of my own – no plan to have kids anytime soon though!

Well, enjoy the spring. My plan for a canadian holidays hasn’t materialised yet – seems it’ll have to wait until I finish my phd thing, then I can travel around in a sane(r) frame of mind.

Hopefully, new posts will be up soon, and some pictures from Nepal to show that I actually was there!

Still reading the site (though less and less frequently, i admit, consistent with the postings – no guilt, honest. i assume you have moved onto better/cooler technology that i am too dinosaurian to adopt).

Wow. REAL pleased with that as an opening sentence – kinda a conversation killer.

The point: hope you are well. What’s up? How’s school? Is life on the British Isles really as… Orwellian as BoingBoing implies? Graduating soon? Interesting milestones i wouldn’t think of? (Married? Kids? Joined a Nunnery?)

We are well(ish) though the family has been sick since mid-December. Seriously. I think we have had maybe a month of days when we were all healthy and microbe free. I just got a temporary 80% contract (by choice), so i get to be a dad to my kids one day a week. Money will be tight, but worth it.

And Spring is finally here in the north – it was above 20C today! Gardening time!
